On March 17, 2020, Facebook announced that it will be offering a Small Business Grants Program, “to help the small business community weather the challenges related to the COVID-19 outbreak.” The program includes $100 million in cash grants and ad credits.

The Facebook Business Grants webpage lists the following eligibility requirements for small businesses:

• Have between 2 and 50 employees
• Have been in business for over a year
• Have experienced challenges from COVID-19
• Be in or near a location where Facebook operates

Over the weekend, Facebook for Business opened up the application process. Terms and conditions for the program have also been posted that include a list of zip codes businesses must be located in to be eligible, along with grant restrictions. Currently, the only eligible location in Georgia is the Atlanta/Fulton County area.

However, there could be more to come, according to comments from Facebook for Business on its April 2 post. Many were commenting on the post asking why their location was not included in the list eligible for grants. Replies from Facebook for Business included, “This is only the first phase of the program. Please keep checking back as we will continually be updating and expanding this program,” and, “[we] are working with local teams to finalize future eligible locations. Please keep checking back as we continue to expand the program.”

While it is still currently unknown just how far and wide the grants program will expand, Facebook is offering a Business Resource Hub that has guides, tips, tools, and other resources on how to keep your business moving forward during COVID-19.
